The simple present tense is used to describe habits, unchanging situations, general truths, and fixed arrangements. It is formed using the base form of the verb for all subjects, except for the third person singular, which adds an -s or -es to the base form. For example, “I eat breakfast every day,” and “She eats breakfast every day.” This tense is also used to express thoughts, feelings, and states of being.
